Reflection

"Don't be afraid
to show your smile"

She looked in the mirror
and disliked what she saw
she dismissed all virtues
and pointed out all flaws
over and over

People had told her
she was pretty
but she only heard
the ones who told her otherwise

How could she deny
she actually turned heads
she told herself
it was because she's hideous
a freak
not because she was fascinating
beautiful
impossible to perceive
nobody would be able to convince her

Nobody?

Being touched
loved
It made her so happy
but scared at the same time
scared it was all a lie
